Description

Marketing is critical to any business venture. Marketing is an exciting and dynamic subject. This module approaches marketing as an integrated set of tasks and functions, built on a solid set of foundations. Marketing skills are not presented as independent functions, but as a set of proficiencies and knowledge combined with economics, finance, and career planning. Students learn how to create strategic plans and how the different skill sets of marketing interface with each other. This is marketing in the real world: integrated, strategic and always changing. Specific topics covered includes: marketing basics, e-marketing, the impact of marketing on society, marketing economics, marketing research, product development, advertising, price-setting, communication, risk management, customer relations and competition among many others. An essential course for an aspiring business professional.

Earn Your Certificate Online

Upon completion of this individual course, students will be awarded a certificate from The Washington Technical Institute.

Certification from the accredited Washington Technical Institute will signify the student's achievement in both knowledge and competence.

This certificate is valid in all 50 States.

Course Format: Asynchronous

Students are required to complete weekly reading assignments both from the textbook and other supplemental materials. Students must also participate in discussions with the course instructor and fellow students. Discussion forums are provided in the WTI online classroom.

Online tests are conducted at the end of each course.

Students are not required to attend any scheduled class meetings. Log in at your convenience to attend school.

Curriculum

This course provides a fundamental understanding of marketing research methods employed by well-managed businesses. MAR-102 is broadly structured to follow the steps in the marketing research process by covering topics such as: problem definition, research design (exploratory, descriptive and causal), data collection methods, questionnaire design and attitude measurement, sampling schemes, and data analysis. This course emphasizes both the qualitative and quantitative aspects of marketing research.

Course Objectives:

Throughout the course, you will meet the following goals:

  • Understand marketing research is and what it does for business.
  • Explain how big data can be used to help businesses make better decisions.
  • List the major stages of the marketing research process and the steps within each.
  • Understand marketing ethics and ways that researchers can face ethical dilemmas.
