The Computer Programming Languages Certificate provides a hands-on introduction to the essential languages that power today’s software, web, and application development. This 12-credit program is ideal for students pursuing careers in programming, software engineering, or computer science, as well as professionals seeking to expand their technical skill set.

You’ll start with Introduction to Programming (CPL-101), where you’ll learn fundamental coding logic, problem-solving, and structured programming techniques that apply to any programming language.

Next, Introduction to Python (CPL-102) builds your ability to write clean, efficient, and reusable code using one of the most versatile and widely used programming languages in the world. Through hands-on projects, you’ll practice functions, data structures, and object-oriented programming while building real-world Python applications.

From there, Fundamentals of Java Programming (CPL-201) introduces you to the Java language and object-oriented principles that underpin enterprise systems, Android apps, and large-scale software projects. You’ll design classes, apply inheritance, and implement interfaces to create modular, maintainable code.

Finally, Introduction to C++ (CPL-202) challenges you to think like a systems-level programmer. You’ll build programs using control structures, recursion, templates, and data structures, applying efficiency analysis and modern development methodologies to solve complex computational problems.

By mastering multiple languages and programming paradigms, you’ll graduate with the confidence and flexibility to pursue entry-level roles such as Software Developer, Programmer Analyst, or Application Engineer, or continue into advanced study in computer science.
